A woman dies every two minutes due to pregnancy or childbirth: Alarming Increase in Maternal Deaths Despite Progress in Some Regions

Every two minutes, a woman dies during pregnancy or childbirth, according to a report released by United Nations agencies on Wednesday. The report titled “Trends in maternal mortality” showed alarming setbacks for women’s health over recent years, as maternal deaths either increased or stagnated in nearly all regions of the world.

While pregnancy should be a time of hope and a positive experience for all women, it is still a shockingly dangerous experience for millions around the world who lack access to high-quality, respectful healthcare,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO). “These new statistics reveal the urgent need to ensure every woman and girl has access to critical health services before, during and after childbirth, and that they can fully exercise their reproductive rights.”

The report tracked maternal deaths nationally, regionally, and globally from 2000 to 2020 and shows that there were an estimated 287,000 maternal deaths worldwide in 2020. This marks only a slight decrease from 309,000 in 2016 when the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) came into effect. While the report presents some significant progress in reducing maternal deaths between 2000 and 2015, gains largely stalled or in some cases, even reversed, after this point.

In two of the eight UN regions, maternal mortality rates increased from 2016 to 2020. Europe and Northern America and Latin America and the Caribbean recorded increases by 17% and 15% respectively. Elsewhere, the rate stagnated. The report notes, however, that progress is possible. For example, Australia and New Zealand and Central and Southern Asia experienced significant declines (by 35% and 16% respectively) in their maternal mortality rates during the same period, as did 31 countries across the world.

The report further revealed that maternal deaths continue to be largely concentrated in the poorest parts of the world and in countries affected by conflict. In 2020, about 70% of all maternal deaths were in sub-Saharan Africa. In nine countries facing severe humanitarian crises, maternal mortality rates were more than double the world average (551 maternal deaths per 100 000 live births, compared to 223 globally).

Severe bleeding, high blood pressure, pregnancy-related infections, complications from unsafe abortion, and underlying conditions that can be aggravated by pregnancy (such as HIV/AIDS and malaria) are the leading causes of maternal deaths. These are all largely preventable and treatable with access to high-quality and respectful healthcare.

“With immediate action, more investments in primary health care, and stronger, more resilient health systems, we can save lives, improve health and well-being, and advance the rights of and opportunities for women and adolescents,” said Juan Pablo Uribe, Global Director for Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank, and Director of the Global Financing Facility.

COVID-19 may have further held back progress on maternal health, and more data will be needed to show the true impacts of the pandemic on maternal deaths. However, COVID-19 infections can increase risks during pregnancy, so countries should take action to ensure pregnant women and those planning pregnancies have access to COVID-19 vaccines and effective antenatal care.

The report reveals that the world must double down on the commitment to women and adolescent health. Providing universal access to quality maternal healthcare requires sustained national and international efforts and unwavering commitments, particularly for the most vulnerable populations. It is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure that every mother, everywhere, survives childbirth, so that she and her children can thrive.

Panorama International Literature Festival 2023 Spain to be held in the month of March

Palma de Mallorca, Spain: The Panorama International Literature Festival (PILF) 2023 will take place on March 4, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Llibreria Lluna in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The event coordinated by the Writers Capital Foundation Chief Advisor Joan Josep Barcelo and Creative Director Filippo Papa is set to be broadcast live via Zoom, and it will feature a variety of writers, poets, and special guests.

The event will start with a brief address by Maria Barceló, owner and director of Llibreria Lluna. Then, Joan Josep Barceló, Chief Advisor, and Coordinator of Spain, will offer greetings and introduce the Secretary General of WCIF, Irene Doura-Kavadia, who will present the Panorama International Literature Festival and the work done by WCIF in the field of culture.

The event will also feature special guests, including Cati Palou, an integrative health expert from Spain, and Nermin Goenenc, a singer from Germany. They will perform music and share their experiences with attendees.

Moreover, the festival will showcase several poets and writers, such as Aldo Gallina, Cristina Pizarro, and Dora Muñoz, who will read their literary works and receive certificates of participation. The Tragic Death of Percy Bysshe Shelley

Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) was a British Romantic poet and philosopher, best known for his revolutionary views on society, politics, and religion, which he expressed in his works. Shelley’s notable works include “Ozymandias,” “Ode to the West Wind,” “To a Skylark,” and “Prometheus Unbound.”

Shelley was born in Sussex, England, and attended Oxford University, where he was expelled for writing an inflammatory pamphlet. In 1814, he eloped with Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (who later became Mary Shelley, the author of “Frankenstein”) and spent much of his life travelling around Europe.

Shelley’s poetry often reflected his radical political beliefs, which included advocating for democracy, nonviolence, and social justice. He was also an atheist, and his works frequently questioned religious dogma and the traditional ideas of the church.

In addition to his literary contributions, Shelley was also known for his personal life, which was marked by scandal and tragedy. He had numerous affairs and was estranged from his family. His first wife, Harriet Westbrook, committed suicide, and his second wife, Mary Shelley, endured the loss of three of their children.

Despite his short life, Shelley remains an enduring figure in English literature, and his poetry continues to inspire readers around the world.

Chinese company asks candidates to wear costume mask for interview

Job seekers follow interview guidelines provided by their respective companies, which vary in their standards. Some companies may consider factors like marriage, weight, and height, in addition to age, gender, and education, but these are not very common.

A Chinese company, Chengdu Ant Logistics, has recently implemented a unique interview policy requiring both the interviewer and the interviewee to wear full-face masks.

The instruction of a mask was reportedly given in order to avoid discrimination over appearance while selecting candidates during the company’s biannual recruitment fair. The masks, the company believes, would else ease the stress and anxiety among candidates.

The video of the interview process went viral on social media, with many people applauding the company’s decision as a step towards combating racism and bias. Chengdu Ant Logistics had previously used unconventional methods to assess candidates, including testing their athletic abilities.

These 5 steps will change your life forever!

There are numerous books on manifestation strategies and ways to attract your desires into your life. After learning a lot about them and applying the principles bit by bit in my own life, this manifestation process can be simplified and narrowed down into 5 essential steps that you can use to consciously allow the things that you want in your life now.

And I’ll be sharing each of them with you in this article, in the order presented below. So let’s begin.

STEP #1

KNOWING WHO YOU REALLY ARE: You Are A Powerful Creator

The foundation for manifesting the life that you desire is first having the clear knowledge of who you are and what power you hold. More than knowing how the game of life is played, it is primarily about understanding the true nature of your being, the power that you have in creating your life, and the universal laws that govern this process of creation. It is important to know that:

(1) Everything in life is energy, including you. You are made out of pure positive energy, the same powerful energy that created this entire Universe. It is moving in you, through you, and around you at all times. We all have access to this powerful energy stream that is capable of creating anything imaginable in this world.

(2) You are a very powerful creator who directs this energy through the thoughts you think and emotions you feel on a daily basis. You are made in the image and likeness of this Universe, and because of this, you are already inherently powerful, unlimited, infinite, worthy, abundant, and grandly loved at your deepest core.

(3) You are the sole creator of your experience because you are the only thinker in your mind and the feeler of your own emotions. The process of creation always starts in you. You are at the cause, and the things in your life are the effects. The thoughts you continuously think, the beliefs and perspectives that you hold about yourself and about life, and the emotions coming from within you, all determine what you attract and make real in your outside world.

(4) Through the ever-consistent Universal law of attraction, life will always reflect back to you the dominant energies you’re sending out. You have the freedom to choose what energy you’re vibrating and therefore attracting, by choosing the kind of thoughts and emotions you habitually entertain. Your outside reality will always mirror your world within. You are the molder of your reality and the attractor of your circumstances.

Applying this first step will allow you to be a conscious thinker and deliberate controller of your daily thoughts and emotions. This requires taking care of the seeds that you allow to grow in your mind and prioritizing the way you feel in any moment. You will now consciously direct your thinking towards the things that you want to attract in your life and let go of those that do not resonate with who you know yourself to be.

STEP #2

TRUSTING YOURSELF AND THE POWERFUL LAWS: The Aligning Of Your Energy

The second step is trusting yourself and your creative power, and trusting this consistent and accurate law of the Universe that says “what you put out is what you will get back”. Applying the second step means letting go of doubts, judgments, noises and unnecessary conclusions that go in the opposite direction of what you want, such as thoughts of things not working out in your life or that you must probably be doing something wrong. This habit will just put your energy towards unwanted things and will block the way for your desires coming true for you.

Cultivating trust means being calm, keeping the faith, and being accepting of the present moment, knowing that things are always conspiring to bring you the best, and unseen forces of the Universe are working on your behalf. With trust, you are at peace and in harmony with situations and things as they occur, and you relinquish the need to judge them based on how they appear on the surface level. You know that the universal forces are at work and you are worthy of the good things coming. As a result, your energy will be in alignment with your desire, instead of moving in the opposite direction of doubt, fear and worry.

STEP #3

SURRENDERING THE SPECIFIC DETAILS AND TIMING: Letting Go Of Control

The third step of surrendering means knowing and trusting (step 1 & 2) that you have already asked for what you want and planted the seeds of your desires, and they are growing and sprouting at its own perfect pace. There is a letting go of control, and of the need for struggle or stronger effort to make them grow, because already inherent in your every desire is the power for its fulfillment. It’s already being done.

Only after knowing and trusting will you be able to surrender to the higher Universal power. Surrendering is knowing that there is a perfect season for everything, and trusting that as long as you are aligned with the vision of what you want, the harvest time is inevitable. You are able to let go of the specific details as to how, when, where and who. There is no insistence on a particular outcome or manner, not needing or demanding specific expectations, and remaining in the general state and knowing that it is for sure and coming.

This step of surrendering to the perfect timing of things will enable you to appreciate every step of the unfolding of your journey, and remove the impatience and the “should haves” because you recognize that everything is part of the success and learnings along your trail. This allows you to be light and easy as you let the Universe handle the details for its fulfillment.

STEP #4

ACTING, PREPARING AND GETTING READY: Being Available And Expecting

The fourth step is now making yourself available for the impulses and inspiration that will guide you towards the things you want, as you move in the general direction of your desires. Once you have surrendered the details, you are now in this open state of taking inspired baby steps to flow with the energy momentum, and to increase the anticipation for your desire.

Baby steps can include visualizations, scripting or imagining how it would feel like being already inside your desire. This can also include acting on the inspiration- perhaps to go to a certain place, talk to a certain person, join this particular organization, sign up for a certain event, and so on. You are continuously doing what feels good from where you are, while simultaneously letting go of attachment to specific outcomes. You are doing your best, and allowing the Universe to take care of the rest. You are in a place of general expectation of the coming of your desires. You do not know the specifics yet, but you definitely know that it is coming. This allows you to be pointed and flowing in the direction of what you want, and ready to be the receiver of the specific details of its unfolding. There will be no vibration of something missing or lacking in your life, because acting on the baby steps allow for the energy to be moving through you as you go along.

STEP #5

RECEIVING YOUR DESIRES: Feeling Appreciation For The Unfolding And Being Joyful Where You Are

The fifth and last step is being the Conscious Witness and Receiver of the wonderful unfolding of what you want, piece by piece and little by little in your life. This means being in a state of satisfaction and gratitude as each day unfolds, and being the joyful realizer of what you desire.

Receiving means continuously feeling good and letting your vibration remain in that frequency, as the things you asked for gently and easily flow into your experience. This is ultimately understanding that the way you feel now is creating the atmosphere of your future experiences. It is the present moment feeling that you’re attracting more of. Receiving your desires is deliberately and consciously tending to your inner world first, and then letting the world outside you reflect what you have inside.

Panorama International Literature Festival on the theme Prana: the Breath culminates

Madrid (Spain): The month-long Panorama International Literature by the Writers Capital International Foundation aimed at fostering humanitarian values across the globe, culminated in a ceremony which was held virtually. Hundreds of writers from around the world attended the event and also shared their experiences during the festival. This is the fourth season of PILF which had earlier won a world record for being the lengthiest literature festival to promote humanitarian values.

The festival that started on new year’s day was on the theme Prana: The breath focusing on the element of air which is in the spotlight considering the challenge of air pollution faced by the global community. A variety of programmes were conducted globally in connection with the festival including competitions for school students on the theme, a tree-planting drive named ‘giving back to nature’, a photography contest etc. Delegates from different professional fields including Writers, educators and poets, from over 78 countries presented their works on the theme virtually and in offline mode. As many as 16 live sessions were also conducted as part of the event in which authors and other intellectuals from different domains had the opportunity to share their works before the literary and intellectual community in the form of poets’ meet, speeches or panel discussions.

The Closing Day Ceremony presided over by the President of the Writers Capital Foundation and the chairman of PILF, was inaugurated by the chief guest Prof. Jeffrey Levett, Founding Dean of the National School of Public Health, Athens, Greece who also announced the newly established educational mission of the foundation International Centre for Foreign Languages and Literature. PILF Chief advisor and coordinator of Spain Prof. Joan Josep Bracelo delivered the keynote address. Vice President of the World Philosophical Forum and Member of the International Academy of Social Sciences, USA, Prof Steven Roy was the guest of honour.

Johanna Devadayavou, Chief Human Resources Officer of WCIF, who delivered a message to share the vision of a better future by joining the Foundation and to make it a strong solid chain that will assist in uniting the whole world in the name of respect, solidarity, brotherhood, peace and love, also administered the “Pledge for Humanity’ for anchoring in the higher goal. Vicky Papageorgopoulou, president of Who’s Who Awards, Greece disclosed the theme of next year’s Panorama Festival- ‘Agni: Ignite the Fire in You’ to join heads and hands.

Vasiliki Dragouni, editor of Writers Edition Magazine delivered the vote of thanks. Irene Doura Kavadia, Secretary-General, WCIF and Chief Coordinator of PILF who anchored the session also bid farewell to the gathering.
