Pantelis Hatzis: A Journey of Resilience and Creativity

Born in Naoussa Imathia in 1985, Pantelis Hatzis has carved a remarkable path marked by resilience, creativity, and unwavering dedication to supporting others facing health challenges. From a young age, Pantelis exhibited a keen eye for observation, delving into details with a curiosity that would shape his life’s journey.

At the age of nineteen, Pantelis embarked on a dialysis program, a journey that would continue until he was twenty-seven, when he underwent a life-changing kidney transplant, with his mother graciously serving as the donor. Despite the temporary reprieve brought by the transplant, Pantelis finds himself back on dialysis, a testament to his ongoing battle with health adversities.

In 2014, Pantelis assumed the role of founder and administrator of the influential blog www.nefropatheis.gr and the Facebook group “Kidney patients and transplant recipients of Greece.” Through these platforms, he has fostered a supportive community, offering invaluable insights and solidarity to individuals navigating similar health challenges. Additionally, Pantelis administers the blog www.dwrea-zois.gr and the Facebook group “Organ donation Gift of life,” amplifying the importance of organ donation and the transformative impact it can have on lives.

Pantelis’s collaboration with his friend and colleague, Elena Karabi, has resulted in several impactful literary endeavors aimed at providing support and strength to those facing health battles. Their co-authored book, “The Dialysis Glossary,” serves as a comprehensive resource for individuals on dialysis, offering essential information and guidance. This initiative underscores Pantelis’s commitment to empowering others through knowledge and understanding. Their subsequent literary works, including “The Adventures of Roulis Nefroulis” and “Litsa Kardoulitsa and the Lost Valve,” further highlight their dedication to uplifting spirits and spreading hope among young and old fighters alike.

The recognition garnered by Pantelis and Elena at the World Literary Festival “Panorama” underscores the profound impact of their contributions. From receiving the Golden Book Award for their children’s books to being honored for their medical dictionary, Pantelis and Elena’s endeavors have not only enriched the literary landscape but have also touched countless lives with their message of resilience and creativity.
