Writers, Scholars, and Academics Must Leverage Their Works to Bridge Cultural Divides, Says Dr. Pratibha Ray​

Mysore, India: Creativity has long been a source of social transformation, challenging injustices, fostering empathy and inspiring solutions​. Writers, ​scholars, and ​academics ​must ​leverage ​their ​works to ​bridge ​cultural ​divides and ​spark ​progress, ​said Dr. Pratibha Ray, renowned author and Jnanpith awardee Padma Shri Dr. Pratibha Ray​. She was speaking during the inaugural session of Global Nexus Series of ​International Conferences on Literature, Arts, and Academia​.

Speaking at the virtual event Dr. Ray emphasized the transformative potential of literature and the arts in addressing societal challenges. “Creativity has long been a force for social transformation, challenging injustices, fostering empathy, and inspiring solutions,” she remarked. She called upon the global creative and academic community to embrace their roles as agents of change, underscoring the importance of aligning personal and professional growth with the urgent need to tackle global concerns.

Dr. Ray lauded the Global Nexus Series for its mission of fostering dialogue, collaboration, and interdisciplinary innovation, describing it as a “hub for tackling critical societal challenges.” She praised the Writers Capital International Foundation’s grassroots initiatives, including the Panorama International Arts and Literature Festival, for their dedication to promoting compassion, cultural understanding, and humanitarian values. Dr. Ray expressed hope that the initiative would inspire more organizations worldwide to join its cause, creating a truly global platform for creative and intellectual exchange.

The inaugural session featured notable contributions from an array of distinguished speakers. Dr. Aparna Ajith, Assistant Professor at Sree Narayana College for Women, Kerala, hosted the event, while Irene Doura Kavadia, Secretary-General of the Writers Capital International Foundation, delivered a welcome speech, sharing the vision of the Foundation’s President. Dr. Meenakshi Mohan, Chairperson of the series, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the need for interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges.

The program included the launch of Nexus Review, an academic journal featuring papers presented during the series, by Prof. (Dr.) Nandini Sahu, ​w​ho also delivered the keynote address. The unveiling of the Quill Compendium​, a souvenir of the Panorama International Arts & Literature Festival 2024 was released by ​noted author and translator Ambika Ananth. The session was moderated by Dr. Bhumika Sharma, Head of the Department of English at the Central University of Rajasthan. Dr. Milon Franz, Principal of St Xavier’s College for Women, ​Kerala, a member of the series’ Steering Committee​ delivered the vote of thanks.

The Global Nexus Series has begun on a high note, uniting scholars, writers, and creators from across the globe to address pressing global concerns. With several prominent institutions already involved, the series promises to be a groundbreaking platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and meaningful dialogue.​
