Writers International Edition is delighted to announce the forthcoming international release of Traveling the Earth with Lepagou by distinguished Greek scholar, author, musician, theologian, and archaeologist Dr. Gerasimos P. Pagoulatos, widely known by readers and listeners as Lepagou.
The upcoming work represents a remarkable literary journey shaped by decades of travel, scholarship, cultural exploration, and lived human experience across continents and civilizations. More than a conventional travel narrative, the book brings together memoir, philosophical reflection, cultural observation, personal storytelling, and historical consciousness in a voice that is both intellectually rich and deeply human.
Dr. Pagoulatos completed his doctoral studies in Historical Theology at Saint Louis University, Missouri, after earning his Master’s degree in Theological Studies with specialization in Art and Archaeology from Harvard University. His academic foundation was established at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, where he studied Religion.
For many years he has served as Professor of Religion and Ethics at Athens College, Greece, while also contributing extensively to the fields of Byzantine studies, archaeology, theology, art history, and cultural scholarship through research, teaching, publications, conferences, and archaeological work. His scholarly contributions and presentations have reached respected international institutions including Johns Hopkins University, the Walters Art Museum, Ohio State University, the Academy of Athens, and numerous other academic and cultural forums.
Yet beyond the academic world, Dr. Pagoulatos has cultivated an equally compelling creative identity through literature and music. His literary works explore philosophy, memory, identity, and introspection, while his musical projects under the artistic name Lepagou combine melody with contemplative atmosphere and emotional depth. His recent musical releases, including Tina’s Love and Phocean Colors, have further expanded his artistic presence internationally. Readers and listeners may explore his musical work here:
Traveling the Earth with Lepagou emerges from a lifetime of encounters with people, cultures, landscapes, and histories. Conceived within the maritime world as the son of a Greek sea captain, Dr. Pagoulatos began traveling internationally from early childhood, experiences that profoundly shaped his worldview and intellectual development.
The book moves through places as diverse as China, Japan, India, Cuba, the United States, and Greece, presenting not only vivid experiences of travel but also reflections on civilization, identity, spirituality, friendship, freedom, and the meaning of human connection. Through harbors, universities, cities, islands, ships, cafés, museums, and forgotten corners of the world, the narrative gradually unfolds as a meditation on both external and inner journeys.
One of the defining qualities of the manuscript is its ability to combine scholarship with accessibility. The author writes with warmth, humor, curiosity, and emotional honesty while carrying the intellectual depth of a lifelong scholar and observer of cultures. The result is a work that appeals simultaneously to readers of travel literature, memoir, philosophy, cultural studies, and reflective prose.
The visual and narrative atmosphere of the book also carries a strong cinematic quality. Scenes unfold with unusual vividness — from childhood memories aboard ships in Asia to encounters in Havana, university life in America, and contemplative journeys through Greece and the Mediterranean world. Throughout the manuscript, travel becomes not tourism but a process of discovery, awareness, and transformation.
The publication is being presented under the Global Signature Publishing Program of Writers International Edition with international promotional support through the literary and cultural platforms of Writers Capital International Foundation.
As part of the international presentation campaign, Dr. Pagoulatos will also appear in a special featured conversation on Meet the Luminaries Podcast, where he will speak about travel, literature, memory, culture, music, and the inspirations behind the book.
With its unique blend of scholarship, storytelling, cultural depth, philosophical reflection, and human warmth, Traveling the Earth with Lepagou promises to become a distinctive and memorable addition to contemporary international travel literature.
The book is scheduled for upcoming international release through Writers International Edition.
