Tanya Ivanova: A Multifaceted Literary and Artistic Force

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1972, Tanya Ivanova is a distinguished poet, writer, translator, and artist whose creative endeavors span across multiple disciplines. Since 1995, she has made Barcelona, Spain, her home, where she has built a multifaceted career as a translator and writer. Fluent in Bulgarian, Russian, English, Spanish, and Catalan, Tanya’s diverse linguistic skills have allowed her to connect with an international audience through her writing and translations. Holding degrees in Cultural Studies, Thracology, and Spanish Translation from the New Bulgarian University (NBU), as well as Master’s degrees in Cultural Tourism and Egyptology, Tanya is a woman driven by an insatiable curiosity and deep respect for ancient cultures.

Her literary journey began at a young age. Tanya penned her first poem at only eight years old, an early indication of the lifelong passion that would shape her professional career. Over the years, she has published more than 50 books through her independent publishing house, Moonlight 13. Tanya’s body of work includes novels, poetry collections, short stories, and even children’s books, reflecting her versatility as a writer. Notably, she has authored 12 books in Bulgarian, five of which have been translated into Spanish, English, Russian, and Serbian, further showcasing her appeal to a global readership.

Tanya’s writing has garnered significant recognition. In 2015, she earned Second Prize at the VI International Festival “Melnik Poetry Evenings” in Bulgaria. Her outstanding work was again celebrated in 2020 when she received First Prize at the prestigious Literary Competition “Rain of Letters” in Toledo, Spain. In 2022, she was awarded the Special Prize by the Confederation of Bulgarian Writers for her synthesis of poetic and artistic mastery and received further accolades, including the Prize for Excellence in Poetry and a Special Certificate for creative performance at various literary festivals.

One of Tanya’s most notable honors came in January 2023 when her poetry collection, I Chose to Be Alive – From Karala to Goa on a Motorcycle, was nominated for the “Golden Book” award at the International Literary Festival Panorama, organized by the International Writers’ Foundation in collaboration with the Central University of Kerala, India. Tanya has also participated in numerous prestigious literary events, including the Panorama International Literary Festival in Palma de Mallorca, the Cervantes Inspires Me exhibition in Toledo, and the Golden Feather Contest in Bulgaria.

Her talent extends beyond the written word. Tanya’s creative pursuits include painting, where she has showcased her work in exhibitions worldwide. She is also a gifted musician, singing and composing her own songs, adding another layer to her artistic expression. Her photos, taken during her travels around the world, have won accolades as well. In 2023, Tanya won Second Prize in the Photography section at the Eurasian Creative Guild’s International Literary Festival in Kazakhstan for five of her travel photos.

In addition to her literary and artistic pursuits, Tanya has also been recognized for her work as a journalist and translator. She is a correspondent for Bulgarian and Spanish newspapers and magazines and is a proud member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, the Confederation of Bulgarian Writers, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Her commitment to the arts is further evident in her role as an Ambassador for the Eurasian Creative Guild based in London. Tanya’s passion for cosmopolitanism and linguistic diversity is reflected in her writing, which celebrates the richness of cultures and languages.

Throughout her life, Tanya has maintained her dedication to fostering cultural exchange, both through her works and as a leader within the artistic community.
