Magda Dimoudi: A Journey Through Byzantine Influence and Contemporary Art

Magda Dimoudi, an accomplished artist hailing from the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece, has carved out a distinguished path in the world of art through her dedication to Byzantine painting and Hagiography. Her artistic journey began under the guidance of the renowned teacher Ioannis Vranos, where she honed her skills in Byzantine painting from 1982 to 1984. Following this foundational period, she continued her artistic development in the “Praxis” workshop, led by Kostas Xanthopoulos, and subsequently studied with Vangelis Dimitreas until September 1986.

In 1986, Dimoudi made a significant move to Corfu, where she has since established her permanent residence. In Corfu, her artistic education continued to flourish as she studied under Nikos Zervos, a notable student of Konstantinos Parthenis. She further enriched her artistic practice at the Art School of Corfu, learning from Spyros Alamanos. This diverse educational background has allowed Dimoudi to develop a unique style that seamlessly blends the ancient traditions of Byzantine art with contemporary influences.

Over the years, Magda Dimoudi has actively participated in the art scene, presenting her works in an impressive total of eight individual exhibitions and over fifty group exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad. Her contributions to the field extend beyond the canvas; she has designed covers and publications for the esteemed “Epsilon” publications, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Dimoudi’s artworks have found homes in various prestigious locations, including the Town Hall of Pylaia in Thessaloniki, the Corfu Art Gallery, and the Hellenic Tourism Organization. Additionally, her pieces are held in numerous private collections, attesting to her growing recognition in the art world.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Corfu Art Association, Magda Dimoudi continues to play an active role in fostering the local art community, supporting emerging artists, and promoting artistic expression in the region. Her commitment to both her craft and the artistic community ensures that her influence will resonate for years to come.
