Nergis Orhon Soydaner was born in Istanbul, where her artistic journey began at a remarkably early age. With an inherent passion for drawing, she nurtured her talent through her studies at Kadıköy High School, specializing in Literature. This foundation in literature deeply influences her artistic expression, as she draws inspiration from the written word and her imaginative realm.
From 1986 to 1990, Nergis honed her skills at an art atelier under the guidance of the esteemed artist Ruhcan Akil. This formative experience laid the groundwork for her unique artistic style, which seamlessly blends the fantastical with the abstract and figurative. Her paintings, rich in imagination and symbolism, serve as a canvas for her experiences, inviting viewers to explore the depths of her creative mind.
Since 1997, Nergis has actively participated in various exhibitions, showcasing her work in prominent cities such as Istanbul, Paris, Lefkada, Amsterdam, and Budapest. Her dedication to her craft is evident in her four solo exhibitions and numerous contributions to social responsibility projects, particularly those supporting children and individuals with multiple sclerosis.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Nergis authored a biography titled The Lord of Kemenche, published by Pan Publications in 2013. This literary work further exemplifies her passion for storytelling, revealing the intricate connection between her art and literature.
Since 2018, she has taken on a pivotal role in the administration and coordination of an independent art group named “International Nomadic Canvases,” fostering collaboration and creativity among artists from diverse backgrounds.
