Kostas Nousias: A Harmonious Blend of Music and Poetry

Kostas Nousias, born on April 5, 1962, in Agiioi Saranda, is a distinguished musician and poet whose artistic journey has been marked by a profound dedication to the arts. A graduate of the Music Academy, Kostas holds diplomas in bassoon and saxophone, complemented by advanced studies in music theory. His diverse talents have led him to compose a myriad of songs, hymns, and oratorios that resonate deeply with audiences.

Throughout his career, Nousias has released eight CDs featuring musical settings of poems from celebrated poets, including C. Cavafy, C. Palamas, P. Tserkezis, M. Lekkas, S. Leontiadou, Mirella Kalantzi, Dina Milou, and Vera Klareva. His collaborations extend to setting works by esteemed writers such as K. Krystallis, Irene Doura-Kavadia, and Yiannis Kontos, showcasing his ability to intertwine the worlds of literature and music.

His compositions have found a platform in various esteemed venues, with his music frequently broadcast by Greek National Radio, ERT, as well as in Bulgaria, Turkey, and Albania. This exposure has established him as a prominent figure in the cultural landscape of the region.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Kostas Nousias has made significant contributions to the literary community. He founded and directed the newspaper “Free VOICE” and contributed to the “People’s Tribune.” His literary pursuits culminated in several poetry collections, including Legendary Symphony, Freedom Street, and The Trilogy of My Homeland. Upcoming works such as Opportunity, Fingerprints, and Don’t Be Afraid of Love! in Albanian continue to expand his repertoire.

Kostas has garnered multiple accolades for his contributions to music and literature. In 2019, he was honored with the APOLLO Award from the World C.P. Cavafy Competition and received a medal from the UNESCO Club for Arts, Literature, and Sciences of Greece. His commitment to peace was recognized in 2021 when the World Poets Forum declared him an Ambassador of Peace.

As the president of the Union of Artists V.I. EKAΒI and the special secretary of the UNESCO Club of Greece, Kostas plays a vital role in promoting cultural initiatives. He shares his passion for the arts as a teacher at a Music Junior High School and High School in Athens, inspiring the next generation of musicians and poets.
