Born and raised in Kudremukh, a picturesque township nestled amidst the undulating hills of Karnataka’s Chikmagalur district, Dr. Chitra’s childhood was steeped in the tranquillity and grandeur of nature. From an early age, she found solace and inspiration in the boundless beauty that surrounded her, and it was amidst these serene landscapes that her love affair with poetry began.

As a thirteen-year-old girl, Dr. Chitra’s poetic journey commenced, guided by the encouragement of her English teacher and fueled by the unwavering support of her father. Under their nurturing guidance, she embarked on a voyage of self-expression, channelling her observations, emotions, and reflections into verses that captured the essence of the Western Ghats. Her poetry, imbued with the sights, sounds, and sensations of her homeland, resonated with readers far and wide, offering glimpses into the soul-stirring beauty of the natural world.

‘Wishes from Cradle’ is the debut volume of poetry by Dr. Chitra Navada. The beauty of her poetry lies in the clarity of words that truly transports the meaning of the emotion to words and imageries to life. The compendium of 43 poems on nature, women, love, relationships, experiences and various aspects of life are elegantly crafted pieces of art where tender emotions are replicated in a very sensitive and sensible way. The subtle emotional sketches in the poems take a reader to the profound realities of life and existence.

Beyond the realms of poetry, Dr. Chitra’s aspirations led her down the path of healing and service. Armed with a deep-seated desire to make a difference in the lives of others, she pursued a career in Ayurvedic medicine, guided by the principles of holistic healing and compassionate care. With unwavering dedication, she established Kammachi Clinic in Jayapura, Chikmagalur, a beacon of hope and healing for the rural communities nestled amidst the Ghats. Here, amidst the verdant landscapes that had nurtured her spirit, Dr. Chitra embarked on her mission to alleviate suffering and restore health, one patient at a time.

At the heart of Dr. Chitra’s journey lies a profound sense of compassion and empathy, instilled in her by her upbringing and fueled by her commitment to service. Born to A R Nagendra, a distinguished former Indian Army officer, and B C Vidyavathi, a dedicated retired state government teacher, Dr. Chitra’s formative years were shaped by the values of duty, integrity, and altruism. Today, alongside her husband, Dr K V Sudhindra, a medical doctor and devoted public servant, she stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, embodying the transformative power of empathy, creativity, and service.
