Born under the vibrant and energetic sign of the Fire Horse, Alexandra Psaropoulou’s life has been shaped by a deep connection to the natural world, creative thought, and artistic expression. Her early years were spent on the island of Hydra, nestled among the wild, untamed mountains of Greece. Surrounded by the serenity of nature and the artistic influence of her family, these formative years laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for literature, art, and creative exploration.
Alexandra’s educational journey took her to St. Mary’s in Wiltshire, followed by a deep dive into European Thought and Literature at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She further broadened her horizons by living in the cultural epicenters of Paris and New York, where she immersed herself in the rich artistic and literary communities. Eventually, she returned to her homeland of Greece, finding solace and inspiration near the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, where the sea continues to be a source of creative reflection.
Coming from a family steeped in the arts, Alexandra was naturally influenced by her parents. Her father was a distinguished poet and publisher, while her mother was a ballet dancer who led the Dance Union in Greece. Growing up in an environment surrounded by artists, writers, and academics, she was constantly exposed to diverse forms of creative expression, which shaped her unique artistic vision.
Today, Alexandra lives with her husband, a classical guitar soloist, and their four children by the sea. Her creative work is a marriage of poetry and visual art, with each of her books reflecting the seamless blend of these two forms. Alexandra’s series, The Flying, showcases her original long poems, accompanied by her graphic illustrations, each piece forming a symphony of word and image. Her works Flying 13 and Flying 17 have been published in Greek by Writers International Edition, with Flying 18 soon to follow.
Her poetry—bold, vivid, and soaring—captures the essence of life’s journey, the experience of flight both literal and metaphorical. Through her art, Alexandra invites readers to embark on an imaginative voyage, blending the tactile with the intangible, the seen with the unseen, all while rooted in the classical and mythic heritage of Greece.
In each poem and illustration, Alexandra’s voice emerges as a modern expression of timeless themes, reflecting a life steeped in artistic exploration and profound connection to the natural and spiritual worlds. Her books, now available on Amazon, continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide. For more information about Alexandra Psaropoulou please follow the link: https://linktr.ee/AlexandraBooks
