Bilkis Moola: Crafting Poetry, Weaving Universes

In the tranquil landscapes of Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province in South Africa, resides a poet whose words resonate far beyond the horizon. Bilkis Moola, with her lyrical prowess, has etched an indelible mark on the literary landscape, traversing continents and cultures with her evocative verses.

Her journey into the realm of poetry began with the publication of her inaugural anthology, “Wounds and Wings: A Lyrical Salve Through Metaphor.” Within its thirty-six poems, Moola’s words became a balm for wounded souls, offering solace and inspiration. The anthology quickly garnered attention, not just in South Africa but also internationally, as her poetry found homes in esteemed publications like “In So Many Words: A Collection of Interviews and Poetry from Today’s Poets” and “Indiana Voice Journal” in the USA, as well as “Scarlet Leaf Review” in Canada. Her verses also resonated in India, featuring in publications such as “Glomag: Monthly Online Poetry and Prose Magazine” and “Verses on Racism, Resistance and Refugee Crisis.”

Moola’s literary odyssey continued to unfurl with her second anthology, “Ebb and Flow of Love,” launched in June 2020. With fifty-nine poems, she delved deeper into the complexities of human emotions, exploring the nuances of love, loss, and resilience. “Footsteps in Shadows,” her third contribution to the poetic arena, emerged in 2022, bearing fifty-six poems that reflected the shadows and light of the human experience. These collections, brimming with depth and introspection, transcended linguistic barriers, finding translations into French, Polish, Spanish, and Hindi, a testament to the universal appeal of her words.

Across continents, Moola’s poetry found a home in prestigious platforms like “OpenDoor Poetry Magazine” in New York, where she was celebrated as the Poet of the Month for January 2021. Her global presence expanded further as she became a selected poet from South Africa on shows like “Poets of the East” in Florida, Miami, USA, and “Like A Blot From the Blue” in Scotland.

Described by Amazon as “the poet with strong imagination,” Moola’s verses resonate with the song of the soul, echoing the depths of human experience and the vastness of the human spirit. Through her poetry, she invites readers on a journey of introspection, connection, and profound revelation, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts and minds of those who encounter her words.
